“What is well-being?” is the starting point for positive psychology. A definition of positive psychology would include the scientific exploration of optimal health and performance and ways to enhance the lives of ordinary people, as well as the study of the conditions and processes that contribute to the flourishing or optimal functioning of people, groups, and institutions.  Founded in the 1990s by Dr. Martin Seligman, this rapidly growing profession has the goal of enabling 50% of the world’s population to flourish by the year 2050.
